The use of technology in higher education and proper evaluation in online education sought

The University Grants Commission has emphasized taking the country's higher education sector forward with proper assessment of students by taking help of technology in online education activities. Professor Dr. Muhammad Alamgir, a UGC member said that the assessment of students’  has become a major barrier to online teaching in higher education. We have to make sure that the assessment of the students is correct. He warned in advance that the acquisition of online education would be questioned if there were any questions about the assessments. The UGC member raised the issue in his keynote address at the inaugural session of the seminar titled 'Virtual Speaker Program on Online Assessment Strategies'. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Muhammad Alamgir said that the UGC has conditionally approved online education so that students do not have to move away from their studies due to the Corona pandemic. Arrangements have been made to solve the problems of students' devices and internet to continue online education. The draft Blended Learning Policy has been finalized so that Bangladesh does not lag behind in the field of higher education. The event was jointly organized by the University Grants Commission and the American Embassy in Dhaka on Wednesday night (August 25). At the event, the keynote address entitled 'Assessing Learning Online Objective Assessments and Addressing Cheating' was presented by Associate Professor of Organization, Information and Learning Sciences, University of New Mexico. Stephanie L. Moore. The event was hosted by Raihana Sultana, a cultural expert at the US Embassy in Dhaka, and was attended by Professor Shaun McIntosh, Public Affairs Officer, and Mohammad Makshudur Rahman Bhuiyan, Director (Additional Responsibilities), IMCT, UGC. More than 600 teachers from public and private universities of the country took part in the program.
